Part of SkillSoft's series "Nine Traits of Highly Successful Work Teams," this course deals with the sixth trait that characterizes successful work teams -- their ability to confront and resolve team conflict effectively. This course outlines why a team's ability to deal with conflict is the number one determinant of whether the team will succeed or fail. It examines the primary causes of conflict within teams, and details how a team's approach to conflict affects the team's performance. The learner will become acquainted with the five modes of conflict resolution, and learn to identify the conflict situation in which it is appropriate to use a specific mode. The course explains how teams must periodically evaluate their conflict resolution abilities, so that they can develop better ways to manage and resolve conflicts within the team. The course also highlights the importance of dialogue and effective communication in resolving conflicts successfully. Moreover, it presents a 5-step communication model that will help team members communicate effectively during the conflict resolution process.
